Is there a difference between the virtual grid and the real grid?

The virtual grid is an image processing technology in digital X-ray photography, which distinguishes the focal ray and scattered ray components by processing the data collected by the imaging unit of the flat panel detector, and suppresses the latter. It can be simply understood as adding a layer filter to the image to make the image clearer.

A grid is a photographic term for a method used to filter out the effects of stray rays on a film.
The grid should be placed between the human body and the film, which can filter out most of the scattered rays, and only a small part of the scattered rays leak.
